Jump Off Rock Wedding Photography - Hendersonville, NC photographers
LeeAnn and Tim chose to have their wedding ceremony in the morning at Jump Off Rock in Hendersonville, NC. The weather was beautiful, and they exchanged vows against a breathtaking backdrop, surrounded by a small group of close friends and family. They wanted a morning ceremony to enjoy a quiet, intimate moment together before celebrating with everyone else later that evening. During the ceremony, they read personal vows to each other, and there were definitely some tears in the crowd. After their intimate ceremony in the park, we took a few photos, and then they spent the day together as newlyweds before meeting up again that evening at the Embassy Suites in downtown Asheville for a fun party and wedding reception. Having a break between the morning ceremony and evening reception was a little different, but I always remind couples that there are no rules—it's your wedding day! As it turned out, it rained in WNC that afternoon, so their plan worked out perfectly. Congratulations, LeeAnn and Tim! You two are amazing.

Jump Off Rock is just five miles from downtown Hendersonville and offers a scenic overlook with wide mountain views. You can easily drive there, and it is open every day from sunrise to sunset in Laurel Park.
The view is romantic, but a tragic legend is also tied to this spot. There are several legends about how Jump Off Rock got its name, and most involve Cherokee maidens. The most well-known story is about a young Cherokee woman who often met her lover here. When he left for a tribal war, they promised to meet at the rock when he returned. Every evening, she climbed up to wait for him. For many, this place symbolizes undying love and commitment, making it a wonderful spot for wedding vows, especially given its easy access and stunning views.
