Asheville Wedding Photographer - Engagement Photo Session on the Blue Ridge Parkway: "Formal Hike"
Recently, I enjoyed a fantastic “formal hike” with Samantha and Dave on the Craggy Pinnacle Trail, where we held their engagement photo session in the stunning scenery along the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville, NC. Samantha’s red dress stood out beautifully against the expansive views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the loving energy this fun couple shared made the afternoon truly special! I'm excited to photograph their wedding soon.
Craggy Pinnacle is a great spot for engagement photos along the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville. The hike is short but rewarding, with a 1.4-mile round trip to the 5,892-foot summit at Craggy Gardens. You'll find some of the best 360-degree views in the Blue Ridge Mountains here. The trail winds through tunnels of rhododendron, twisted sweet birch trees, and wildflowers. As you get close to the top, you can also check out a few side trails, which are great for engagement photos away from the more crowded viewing deck. at the summit.
This trail is a short drive from Asheville, making it a perfect location for engagement photos. If you are coming from Asheville on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the best trail access is just north of the Craggy Gardens Visitor Center, through a short tunnel. Park in the next lot on the left to reach the trailhead. The parking area sits at 5,640 feet, so you'll only gain 252 feet as you hike. The trail is easy, and visiting is free. You'll find it on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 364.1.
